Art by Moebius (Jean Giraud)

I’m trying so hard to wait until Christmas for the new Nausicaa hardcover set but damn it looks really amazing!
Such a good manga and hands down one of my favourite comics. Much like Akira it goes way beyond anything in the movie and continued to be serialised long after the film was completed.
Please check it out, the individual volumes are really cheap for all you get too, (Miyazaki packs his pages tight, his layout more akin to Bande Dessineé than Manga).

View Larger So apparently VIZ is re-releasing Hayao Miyazaki’s Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind in a deluxe boxset this November. It’ll be broken into two hardcover volumes, 1104 pages total, with color pages and an exclusive poster.
I’m curious because while I read the first two volumes from the local library years ago, I never went beyond that. And I’ve seen numerous pages from the series since I joined Tumblr, all of them gorgeous. So I’ve wanted to buy the books for a while, and a deluxe edition seems like a great way to do it, especially since it’d be cheaper than buying the individual volumes.
But I’m a little leery. There still isn’t any listing of the dimensions of the book from what I’ve seen (and previous collected editions shrunk the books a good deal), and based on the Amazon pages for the individual books, it seems a little short on pages (the total page count based on Amazon’s listings should be 1232 pages, compared to the box set’s 1104).
Either way, I have my eye on this.
Awesome work by early-1900s Irish artist Harry Clarke, who did illustrations for Poe and Grimms’ works.
